"I, for one, welcome our new computer overlords," claimed Ken Jennings’ upon losing to IBM’s Watson supercomputer in the famous 2011 Jeopardy! IBM Challenge. Good thing, as machine intelligence has become part of our everyday lives. Does Alexa or Google Assistant wake you in the morning? In this case, the reference to an overlord may be justified. But using Google Search and having chatbots as resources have become commonplace and beneficial in the hectic world in which we live. This course will introduce you to AI, review its place in education and have you explore various classroom applications for its use. No previous experience in AI is required.
This course is an introduction to artificial intelligence in education. Participants have explored the history of AI, its essential components, and how AI can support learning in the classroom. They have explored tools that engage students and reflected on the issues of ethics. They have demonstrated competency in creating virtual assistants and implemented lessons using easy AI tools.
